De BatteryProtect ontkoppelt de accu van niet-essentiële belastingen voordat de accu volledig is ontladen (waardoor de accu zou worden beschadigd) of voordat er onvoldoende vermogen over is om de motor te starten.

De BatteryProtect is een eenrichtingstoestel. Het kan enkel stroom behandelen in één richting, dus ofwel stroom naar een lading of stroom van een lader, maar niet beide stromen tegelijkertijd. Bovendien kan de stroom enkel vloeien van de Accuklem naar de Laadklem. Bij gebruik met een belasting maakt de accu verbinding met de Accuklem en bij gebruik met een lader wordt de lader aangesloten op de Accuklem.
