The Buck-Boost DC-DC Converter is a DC-DC converter for charging a 12/24V service battery in vehicles with an intelligent alternator. Because these alternators (controlled by the vehicle electronics in Euro 5 and 6 engines) often don't deliver a continuously correct charging voltage while the engine is running, a DC-DC converter is necessary to properly charge the service battery.
